Here we take a look at how to easily checkmate with only a bishop and a knight. Although this endgame is difficult at first, once the key concepts are learned it becomes quite easy.

  1. But explain us what if he at 9:33 goes back to a6, it looks impossible to mate him in 50 moves! please give an understandable answer please!!!???????

  2. @Efermode If you find it out in a rapid chess tournament, with all ppl looking at your board and with 3 minutes on the clock, you will feel the pain.

  3. I just have WAY to much trouble trying to get the king to the side! he always escapes, or ends up in a repitition position. Very frusterating.

  4. Nope. Because material is not insufficient! 🙂

  5. OH MY GOD! OH MY FRICKING GOD! 4:28… The squares… they are purple… Truly amazing…

  6. Dude wtf. less than 10 moves in first 5 minutes when there was hardly anything to explain.

  7. Why ka4 there at the end he want to go to a8 not a1.

  8. You might encounter this once in your chess career so not really worth learning.

  9. What I really hate when people explain this checkmate is that they never assume the opponent is going to have his King exactly in the center of the board, and that you will never need to force him out of it. How do you force the opponent out of the center and fully centralize your pieces? And if you do manage that, then how is the King forced to the border of the board? Also, assume the opponent will make the best moves available.

  10. I think I understand the concept. But what if the black King goes back to A6 at 09:25?

  11. I faced the position just yesterday and I had to draw cuz I had not taken this lesson earlier. Thanks Kevin

  12. hello friend I just wanna to say that checkmate with bishop and knight is easy piece a cake I TELL YOU WHAT, I’LL SHOW you checkmate involving not only “KNIGHT AND
BISHOP” BUT  MORE THAN THAT. MY AMAZING CHECKMATE INVOLVING KING , QUEEN,
KNIGHT, BISHOPS, ROOK and PAWNS. I MUST TELL YOU IT IS VERY VERY DIFFICULT
TO MAKE SUCH CHECKMATE, IN MATTER OF A FACT IT’S NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE, HOWEVER AGAINTS ALL ODDS I HAVE DONE IT, I HAVE BEAT THE IMPOSSIBLE, BUT FOR ME I BELIEVE NOTHING IMPOSSIBLE AND IF I
CAN DO THAT I BELIEVE YOU CAN DO THAT TOO

  13. chess network have better explained this mate… this video have too many assumption. why black king goes to lower black corner seeking suicide if can goes back to upper white corner?

  14. 9:19, black king can return to a6, like you said it wants to run to the opposite corners so why would it go downwards?

  15. What does he mean "when the move is over 50, then it's a drawn game"?

  16. This tutorial fails by assuming the King will go to the dark corner when it is clear it can stay in the white corner after 9:00

  17. I think the easyst way to win is if opponent play "perfect" because then he is in the so called "wrong corner" and this technic is so easy, so few lines, so either have both the triangle method and the double u manoeuver or try not let him go in the wright "corner" if you have time troubles.

  18. "I'm gonna go ahead and go ahead and go ahead…." annoying verbal habit.

  19. 6:45 if king was in a6 square,we could checkmate the black king without any delY NO?

  20. Were gonna go ahead and go ahead, and then black will have to go ahead and go ahead, so let's just go ahead and go ahead and see if black goes ahead and… yes he does, so, he decides to go ahead and go ahead, so we can just go ahead and go ahead and…

can you guess the next two words?

  21. The bishop and the knight is only a support. The key to win the game is the king. The King is the boss and he commands his pieces to back-up him.

  22. I can mate very strong engine highest level in 36 moves (random position Black king in center (

  23. a two minute explanation in 10 minutes, this guy can talk!!!!

  24. for all the talk, the video shows a 9 mins 35 the king supposedly being forced down to a1 from a5 but it could have avoided it and gone up the board to a6 to try and force a draw, I thought I would overlook it the first time I saw this in the demo then it happened again, not a very informative vid.

  25. This has happened to me 3 times now. The first time I was a beginner and had no idea how to do it. I watched this video after and now both times I have gotten into this position I was able to win! Thanks Jerry

  26. Is there only one whole process to check mate ????

  27. o190503 SESETTI CHIRANJEEVI BHAVANA RUSHI says:

  29. That's cool an all I have mated people like that but after the last pawn Is taken you only have so many move before a stale mate

  30. The absolute best video on this topic on YouTube.

  31. Literally anytime I look something up, the first place I come is here. TY again Kevin.

  32. Me and my friend were assigned to do this and we were having a breakdown evem tho we are the strongest in our chess kids group lol

  33. 8:51 Why wouldn't black play Ka6 next? Shouldn't black always try to move towards the safe corner that is closest to current position?

  34. I’m an absolute beginner but There are some errors with this video it seems …
@8:53sec the Bk can move back to A6 instead of marching down….

  35. Thanks Irving, the only man who hasn’t yet been thanked in these comments.
